Netflix Top Movies- Week of 10/18

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

1. Hubie Halloween

Currently, Hubie Halloween, is #1 on Netflix under "Top 10 Movies in the U.S. Today." Hubie Halloween is directed by Steve Brill. Famous cast members include: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Noah Schnapp, and Steve Buscemi. Halloween time is upon the residents of Salem, Massachusetts, and Hubie is gearing up for Halloween. Hubie Debois is known as the town clown. Everyone makes fun of him and plays jokes on him. Hubie constantly finds himself at the police station tattle-taling on every little thing he "sees." Everyone takes Hubie's encounters with a grain of salt. But when Hubie actually sees something important, nobody takes him serious. Halloween has made Salem a spooky town, and Hubie, is set out to save his town.

After watching this movie, I rate it a "watch." I recommend this movie for someone who enjoys spooky, comedy movies. It is kind of predictable and a little cheesy, but overall well worth your time to watch!

2. The Trial of the Chicago 7

Currently, The Trail of the Chicago 7, is #2 on Netflix's "Top 10 Movies in the U.S. Today." The Trail of the Chicago 7 is directed by Aaron Sorkin. Famous cast members include: Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne. This filmed is based on the infamous 1969 trial of the Chicago 7. The Chicago 7 were on trial being charged by the federal government with conspiracy. What started out with peaceful protests at the 1968 Democratic National Convention, led to a well known, nationwide case. The nation was fixed on this trial and sparked ideas about mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. Government.

After watching this, depending who you are, would determine if I would rate this a "watch" or a "pass" for you. I would strongly recommend this for someone who enjoys historical events and law type movies, then I would rate it a "watch." If you are not into historical event movies, I would give this movie as a "pass" in my opinion.

3. Moneyball

Currently, Moneyball, is #3 on Netflix's "Top 10 Movies in the U.S. Today." Moneyball is directed by Bennett Miller. Famous cast members include: Brad Pitt, Chris Pratt and Jonah Hill. This film is based on a true story. Billy Beane, Oakland A's general manager, is frustrated his baseball team cannot afford big-money baseball players. Billy Beane comes up with a bold plan. After losing the 2001 season to the Yankees, the team loses 3 of their star players. Billy recruits new players based on their on-base percentage. The team picked up under-valued players and injured players, in hopes of recreating their star players.

Now, I am not going to spoil what happened but the ending is fantastic! I highly recommend this movie for anyone who enjoys sports or movies with a great meaning behind them. I give Moneyball a "watch."
